CPR/AED

Courses on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) provide the skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies and choking for adults, children, and babies depending on the level of CPR chosen. Courses meet legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards, and include the latest CPR guidelines and training in the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Emergency First Aid

Basic one-day course offering lifesaving first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for the workplace or home. Course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines.

Emergency Child Care First Aid

Basic one-day course designed to introduce caregivers to injury prevention skills and knowledge. Course covers lifesaving first aid skills and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR and AED) for children, and babies. Course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial early childhood education and day care worker safety requirements.

Standard Child Care First Aid

Comprehensive two-day course offering lifesaving first aid skills, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills, and injury prevention skills and knowledge, with a focus on childhood injuries and illnesses. Includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines and meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial early childhood education and day care worker safety requirements.

Health and Safety Training

Workplace Inspections and Incident Investigations

It is required under the Occupational Health and Safety Act that the workplace be inspected on a monthly basis. 

Even where inspections are not legally required, a well managed inspection program can help to identify problems and assess risks before accidents or injuries occur.

CPR and First Aid

Regulation 1101 from the WSIB states that if your workplace has more than 5 people on one shift at any given time, there must be at least one person certified in standard first aid. If your worksite has more than 5 employees, it is suggested that you have more than one certified medic on site at all times.

Psychological First Aid

This course uses primarily case-based learning and includes the latest evidence from the international community. The in class course is recommended for those in a management and/or leadership position. Upon successful completion you will receive 3-year certification in Psychological First Aid.

Psychological First Aid – Self-Care (Online Class)

This online course assists learners in developing a personal understanding of the effects of stress, loss, trauma and grief, with emphasis on self-care and personal protection. Learners will be introduced to the Red Cross Look, Listen, Link, Live model and will learn how to cope with the effects of various types of stress. This course can also be taken in combination with the Red Cross Caring for Others online course to supplement and strengthen an overall psychosocial wellness program.

Professional Responder & Advanced Courses

CPR/AED – BLS

Course provides the skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies and choking for adults, children, and babies; use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); and additional skills for healthcare providers. Includes the latest CPR guidelines.

First Responder

First aid and CPR skills for professional first responders or those wanting to become first responders. Course teaches techniques for sustaining life, preventing further injuries, and caring for illnesses and injuries until the next level of medical personnel arrives. 

Includes CPR level C, BLS and AED.

Emergency Medical Responder

This course is for those providing a professional level of emergency response including firefighters, law-enforcement officers, and emergency medical services personnel. Includes CPR level HCP and AED, and meets the Paramedic Association of Canada National Occupational Competency Profiles for the practitioner level of emergency medical responder (EMR).

Includes CPR level C, BLS and AED.

Advanced First Aid

A comprehensive course offering advanced first aid and CPR skills for those typically designated as a senior workplace first aid attendant. Course covers a variety of topics from basic (circulation and breathing emergencies, and prevention of disease transmission) to advanced (sudden medical emergencies and injuries to the head and/or spine), including instruction dedicated to understanding workplace legislation and responsibilities.

Airway Management

Designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to create a patent airway, the interventions to maintain it, and the equipment available to carry out these skills. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills required to provide the appropriate interventions, including measuring and inserting the applicable airway adjunct based on the patient’s condition.

Oxygen Therapy

This course teaches how to operate various oxygen devices as well as to respond and treat respiratory emergencies. The course is for those who are required to use oxygen in the workplace including lifeguards, emergency medical services (EMS) professionals, etc.

Specialty Courses

Bloodborne Pathogens - (Online Class)

This program is designed for individuals who may be exposed to blood and body fluids or items contaminated with blood during the performance of their work and who wish to gain a basic understanding of blood-borne pathogens.

Medical Terminology - (Online Class)

The Medical Terminology course provides an introduction to the professional language used by those who are directly and indirectly involved with the art of healing. The course will also introduce those not currently involved in the health care environment with an introduction to the language of medicine. In addition, the program will provide participants with the basics of human anatomy and physiology.

STOP the Bleed

Stop the Bleed

The Stop the Bleed course will prepare you to react to a situation where massive bleeding from any cause, but particularly from an active shooter, explosive event, car crash, home or industrial events. Victims can die from uncontrolled bleeding in less than 5 to 10 minutes. This course will provide you with the skills to aid in extreme blood loss till paramedics arrive and can save lives.

Workplace Health and Safety

WHMIS 2015 - (Online Class)

WHMIS 2015 Online is based on the current 2015 legislation and meets the legislated requirement for general WHMIS training. Employers must also provide workplace-specific training and instruction for each of the hazardous products in the workplace.

Fire Safety - (Online Class)

Fire Safety teaches participants about the legislated fire safety responsibilities of the employer and the worker, describes safe work practices related to fire prevention, and provides practical information about emergency response in situations involving fire.

Transportation of Dangerous Goods - (Online Class)

In the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) course you will learn its regulations and proper training, proper documentation, safety marks and means of containment, forbidden goods, exemptions and special provisions as well as, immediate reporting and procedures to follow in the event of an emergency. A printable certificate is available upon completion.

Transportation of Dangerous Goods – Energy - (Online Class)

In the TDG course you will learn – Introduction to TDG, its regulations and proper training, proper documentation, safety marks and means of containment, forbidden goods, exemptions and special provisions as well as, immediate reporting and procedures to follow in the event of an emergency. A printable certificate is available upon completion.

Lockout/Tagout - (Online Class)

The term “Lockout/Tagout” refers to specific practices and procedures to safeguard workers from the unexpected energizing or start-up of machinery and equipment, or the release of hazardous energy during service or maintenance activities. The course examines basic workplace safety tenets and examines the specific stages and procedures of the Lockout/Tagout process.

Cannabis in the Workplace: Impairment Awareness Training for Workers - (Online Class)

This course aims to give employees the best possible understanding of the differences between medical and recreational cannabis, their responsibilities when using medical cannabis in the workplace, and employer responsibilities. This course explains the laws relating to human rights legislation and the duty to accommodate employees who have medical authorization to use cannabis.

Cannabis in the Workplace: Management Training - (Online Class)

Cannabis is the Workplace: Management Training provides participants with information about cannabis in the workplace, focusing on the issue of impairment and providing practical guidance to help develop and apply appropriate and effective policies and procedures.
